Circumstances of Disappearance
Ramer disappeared on Friday August 15, 1997, after attending a softball game with friends.
She was last seen leaving her boyfriend's residence about 23.45, to return to her father's house, where she lived, about five minutes away. She lived in Opp, located between Enterprise and Andalusia, AL.
Kemberly was about to start her senior year at Opp High School when she suddenly vanished. She was a straight A student.

Investigators believe she disappeared sometime between midnight and 05.00, leaving behind her car, keys, clothes, money and her contact lenses, which she couldn't see without.
Her father wasn't worried when he saw Kem wasn't home the next morning, thinking at first she might have spent the night at her mother's house. He noticed Kem's bed was a bit more rumpled than usual, but there were no conclusive signs of a struggle and no signs of forced entry into the house.
Two days later, on August 17, her parents reported her missing.
Her family insists Kem wouldn't have run away, saying that despite her parents' divorce, she was happy and was looking forward to attending college in Mobile.

Nine months after Ramer's disappearance, investigators searched a rural Walton County lake, acting on tips that her body was there. The search lasted three days and turned up no clues relating to the case
Again in 2001, a nonprofit group from Texas searched Baptism Hole, but turned up no clues.
In 2006, investigators searched a sinkhole near Ponce de Leon, FL, after receiving an anonymous tip, but that search also turned up no evidence.

2015
The search for the body of an Opp teen who disappeared in 1997 has struck another dead end. Coffee and Crenshaw county investigators, along with the FBI, were hopeful a tip they got three weeks ago would provide some answers, but it appears the well they dug into Thursday was dry of any results.

Law enforcement officials brought in cadaver dogs and a bulldozer to probe a dug well behind an abandoned house on Coffee County Road 412, but have since called off the search.

Crews dug past the depth of the well and found nothing that would indicate the final resting place of Kemberly Ramer, a 17-year-old who vanished on August 15, 1997 in what has long been suspected to be a case of foul play.

Ramer's disappearance nearly two decades ago sent Opp residents frantically searching for her. The FBI has previously acted on tips to drain a lake and a sinkhole in Florida, but Ramer's body has never been located.

Now, authorities are left with a mountain of dirt it took eight hours to amass, along with a mountain of unanswered questions that have been piled high for considerably longer.
