The Coffee County Sheriff’s Reserve Unit provides aid and assistance to the Sheriff of Coffee County by providing a ready pool of uniformed and equipped deputies to be used at the discretion and direction of the Sheriff. The Reserve Unit, through its Board of Directors, shall evaluate any requests for law enforcement related assistance from other sources to determine the appropriateness of providing such assistance with respect to its impact on the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO). The Sheriff has final approval on all assistance requests. The Reserve Unit is non-political and non-sectarian. The efficiency of the Reserve Unit as a law enforcement and public service organization revolves largely around the leadership, conduct, discipline, and training of its members. The Reserve Unit strives to recruit those citizens of the county whose standards are compatible with the highest standards of the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office. Reserves are responsible for working many different details falling under the jurisdiction of the Coffee County Sheriff's Office. The Reserves also provide an invaluable service by supplying additional personnel in the patrol cars. Reserve deputies are encouraged to ride with the deputies as often as possible, thereby adding additional personnel which greatly enhances patrol abilities. Often times this provides for a two man patrol unit, which allows CCSO to keep other deputies spread out in other areas of the county when the need arises for more than one deputy to handle a situation.
We currently have 20 reserve deputies that donate their time and efforts to assist the Coffee County Sheriff's Office. The Reserve Unit is made up of a wide variety of individuals to include college graduates, business owners, military, retirees and many others. The Reserve Unit falls under the command of CPT Geary Hancock.
